About Us

Elks Lodge #744 building with a classic architectural style.
Elks Lodge #744 building with a classic architectural style.

The building at 1038 Brown St tells a story most fraternal halls cannot. Elks Lodge #744 is among a rare handful of lodges in New York State still operating out of its original Elks-built structure, and anyone who has walked through its doors notices the difference immediately. The woodwork, the proportions, the weight of the rooms, all carry the intention of people who built something meant to last.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has always been about more than membership cards. Lodge #744 carries that forward in Peekskill through charitable giving, community events, and the kind of easy camaraderie that reviewers consistently describe when they call this place a "nice, easy-going" spot. With a 4.4-star rating across dozens of reviews, the lodge has earned its reputation not through marketing but through consistency.

If you have never visited an Elks lodge before, #744 is a genuinely good introduction. The people here are welcoming, the space has genuine character, and the organization behind it does real work in the Hudson Valley community. Come for an event, stay for the conversation.

What We Offer

Lodge #744 functions as a full-service event venue for the Peekskill area, hosting private parties, banquets, and fraternal gatherings in a space that has genuine architectural presence. Small-to-mid-size events are the sweet spot here, where the historic rooms add atmosphere that no rented ballroom can replicate.

Beyond private rentals, the lodge hosts member events, charitable fundraisers, and community programming tied to the Elks' national mission of supporting veterans, youth, and local families. The bar and lounge areas provide a relaxed setting for members and guests alike.

Membership in the Peekskill Elks opens access to lodge facilities, a national network of over 800,000 members, scholarship programs, and service opportunities throughout the Hudson Valley. Prospective members are encouraged to stop in, ask questions, and see the building for themselves.

"Usually a good venue for small parties, but my last experience there was very disappointing. Most of the staff was nice except this one older women with short hair and bangs. She seemed like she was the one in charge, & was very upset over the over crowding, & uncontrolled children running around on this particular ocassion. We were guests at a wedding being held there. The smaller group of children who were sitting near the stairs had "peeled" the paint of the wall, and she came in and was screaming at the guests, saying "do you think this is funny?, this is not your place to mess up, look what they did to that wall!" Her demeanor throughout the party was unacceptable. I understand there was more people than there should have been, & perhaps the children weren't easy to deal with, but she could have addressed the situation in a different way. I also overheard her saying, well more so yelling "I want more f****** garbage cans in here!" ( there was a paper on the floor, that she had reached down and picked up). Guests at a wedding should not be treated this way, & I hope this issue is addressed."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
